Rental housing in Anchorage is increasing in price due to an increasingly tight rental market and competition for available units. Monthly rents have gone way up.
Reports issued by the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce say causes are variable including the pandemic, limited new construction, and an unprecedented increase in short-term vacation rentals.
Anchorage residents may find it more financially beneficial than most to find a roommate in Anchorage and/or rent a room in their homes.
Either that or . . . they already rented the whole thing out as a short-term vacation rental?
